I Will Not Be Spent

“The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by Elijah.” (1 Kings 17:16)

This verse is a powerful reminder that when God calls me to trust Him, He is also able to sustain me. As the saying goes, “Where God guides, He also provides.” His provision may not always look like abundance, but it will be enough for each day. The widow did not have much. From what she could see, she was almost empty.

But God’s Word proved to be dependable. The jar of flour was not spent, and the jug of oil did not run dry. In the same way, there may be moments when God asks me to serve, give, obey, or keep going when I do not feel like I have the strength. I may feel tired, limited, or unsure of what comes next. But I need to remember that my supply does not come from myself. God is the One who provides. He is able to meet my needs and sustain me through whatever He allows me to face.

His grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in weakness. I may feel weak, but I am not without help. I may feel empty, but His supply never runs dry. I may not see how everything will work out, but I can trust the God whose Word never fails.

The next time the enemy tries to sow seeds of discouragement, fear, or discontentment in my mind, I need to remember who God is. His mercies are new every morning.

His grace is enough for today. He may not show me the whole journey at once, but He will give me what I need one day at a time. My part is to obey His Word and leave the rest to Him. God is in control. He never fails. He is always faithful.

Because of Him, I will not be spent.

Prayer

My Lord, help me trust You the way this widow had to trust You. You may not remove every hardship I face, but You will be with me and sustain me through it. Help me trust You one day at a time. When I feel weak, remind me that Your grace is sufficient. When I feel empty, remind me that Your supply never runs dry. When things look uncertain, remind me that Your Word never fails.

Teach me to obey You and leave the rest in Your hands. Thank You for who You are and for Your faithfulness in every season.
