Habakkuk 1:12-13 | “Lord, are you not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, you will never die. You, Lord, have appointed them to execute judgment; you, my Rock, have ordained them to punish. Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing.”

When was the last time you just sat still and adored God? Like, a prayer that simply celebrates who He is — not asking for anything, just acknowledging His greatness? As we have been studying the book of Habakkuk, we see a powerful example of this kind of worship.

In chapter 1, after receiving a troubling message from God about the coming judgment, Habakkuk pauses. Instead of letting confusion or fear take over, he turns his heart toward adoration. In verse 12, he declares, “Lord, are You not from everlasting? My God, my Holy One, You will never die. Lord, You have appointed them to execute judgment; my Rock, You have ordained them to punish.”

It was in this moment that something beautiful was revealed—even in uncertainty, in the midst of chaos, Habakkuk chose to remind himself of who God is: eternal, holy, sovereign, and unshakable. His prayer wasn’t filled with answers, but with awe. He worshiped through remembrance of the WHO instead of gazing his focus on the circumstances. In this moment, Habakkuk reaffirmed God’s character before voicing his next concern.

That’s what adoration looks like. It’s when we stop striving for explanations and simply rest in the truth of who God is. It’s declaring, “Lord, I don’t understand it all, but I still know You are good, faithful, and worthy.”

So today, before rushing to requests or worries, take a few quiet moments to adore Him — to speak of His goodness, His mercy, His faithfulness. Like Habakkuk, let your adoration rise even in the middle of uncertainty, even in the midst of chaos, knowing that worship anchors the heart when the world feels unstable.

Prayer of Adoration

Father, I stand in awe of who You are.  You are Adonai — Lord and Master of all. You are Yahweh, the Great I Am — Creator of all things. You breathed life into me and formed the world by Your word. You are holy, mighty, and sovereign. There is none like You — the self-sufficient One who needs no help, yet everything depends on You. Even in Your majesty, You see me. You are intentional with my life, going before me and preparing the way. Your love always surrounds me — unconditional and unfailing. You loved me so much that You gave Your Son so I might have life. Thank You, Lord, for Your grace, Your presence, and Your steadfast love. I honor You today simply for who You are. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
