“And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep." — Luke 7:13 (ESV)

Reflection:

This thoughtful passage reminds me that I serve a God who not only sees but also deeply cares. He never stays distant—He draws near in our pain. He is always personal, always present.

It also brings to mind a time when I was going through a difficult season—the passing of my father. In that moment of deep grief, someone simply took the time to pray with me. That act of kindness—lifting me up before God—brought more comfort than words ever could. It reminded me how powerful it is to simply be present for others in their pain. That’s one of the most beautiful ways to reflect Jesus’ love.

I want to do the same—to keep my eyes open to those around me, to show compassion, and to reach out to those in need.

Being the heart and hands of Jesus isn’t always about grand gestures. Sometimes it’s the small things—bringing a meal to a grieving family, sending a note to someone going through a hard time, helping a neighbor with chores, or offering to watch someone’s kids for a while—that make the biggest difference. These simple acts of service speak volumes about God’s love. And the God who sees always takes notice.

As followers of Christ, we’re called to be servant leaders. Jesus Himself said, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” (Mark 10:45, NIV). I want to be His hands and His heart to others whenever possible, reflecting His compassion in every encounter.

Prayer:

Dear Lord,Thank You for being the God of all comfort and the God of unfailing love. Teach me to share the compassion You’ve shown me with others. Help me to love as You love, and to be present as You are always present. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Action Step:

—Look around your daily life—who might need comfort, kindness, or a helping hand?

Maybe it’s a coworker who seems overwhelmed, a friend/church member going through a hard time, or even a stranger who could use a smile, a kind word, or a listening ear.

—-Ask God to open your eyes and soften your heart, so you can grow in compassion and be the eyes, heart, and hands of Jesus this week.
